THREE-TIME MINNESOTA STATE CHAMP
LeVESSEUR
SELECTED TO DAPPER DAN CLASSIC U.S. TEAM
PITTSBURGH Marcus LeVesseur, a three-time Minnesota state champion from Bloomington-Kennedy High School and a Minneapolis, Minn., resident, has been selected to wrestle at 145 pounds for the United States team in the 27th annual Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic scheduled for Saturday, March 24 at the University of Pittsburgh's Fitzgerald Field House.
LeVesseur entered this season with a 144-6 career record, having won Minnesota state titles the past three seasons B winning 114 of 115 bouts. He was 30-5 as an eighth grader and placed fourth in the state.
LeVesseur is a 1998 Cadet National champion at 132 pounds. He also is a two-time Minnesota Christmas Tournament champion, a Junior National Runnerup in 199 and Junior National bronze medallist in 2000, and a three-time World Team member.
LeVesseur joins fellow Minnesotan, Matt Nagel, a four-time state champion from Frazee High School, and heavyweight Steve Mocco of Blair Academy, Blairstown, NJ, as members of the U.S. squad.
The Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic, partially funded by UPMC Health System, benefits the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania.
The Wrestling Classic, dubbed The Rose Bowl of Wrestling, is the premier high school all-star dual meet in the United States.
The preliminary match will feature WPIAL stars going against Minnesota's best at 5:30 p.m. The main event Pennsylvania versus the USA will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Pennsylvania leads the all-time series 15-10-1.
